Archery Hunting Expo to be Held Aug. 27 & 28, 2011, in Florida

A bowhunter’s education course, a challenging 3D shoot, and raffles and prizes will be part of the first Easton Foundations Hunting Expo the weekend of Aug. 27th & 28th in Newberry, Florida.

Hunters and archers alike may want to bring their bows to try their hand at the 3D range, which will include 30 lanes featuring white-tailed deer, bear, board, and even hyenas and cheetahs.

Hunters can also bring their best mounts for bragging rights, and future hunters can take the bowhunters education course from 8am-noon Saturday.

Prizes and raffles include several bows donated by Easton, Bear and Matthews, plus arrows, sights, T-shirts and more. One lucky winner will take home a Hoyt Carbon Element Bow valued at well over $1000.

Bowhunting Instruction at Outdoor Blast July 22-24 in Georgia

The Traditional Bowhunters of Georgia will be at the GON Outdoor Blast in Macon, Ga., July 22-24, to offer hands-on instruction and an indoor archery range for kids to learn or work on their skills with bow and arrow.

The Blast will also include a hunter-education course that will cover blood trailing, field-dressing, stand inspection, 4-wheeler safety, wildlife tracks, dangerous wildlife & plants and more.

The Blast will be held at the Macon (Ga.) Centreplex July 22 to 24, 2011. Many other activities will also be included, and adults will be able to check out acres and acres of the latest hunting and fishing gear in air-conditioned comfort.

NASP World Tournament To Be Held in October

The National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) will hold the 2011 World Tournament in Orlando, Fla., Oct 6-8, 2011.

The tournament is expected draw more than 1,300 students who participate in the NASP program around the world, including teams from Canada, Africa, and New Zealand, in addition to several dozen teams from the U.S.

In addition to the official competition, the tournament will include a free Dinosaur 3D range for fun shooting, and will have a free indoor practice range set up.

NASP® began in 2002 with 21 middle schools in Kentucky, and has grown to nearly 9,000 schools and  2 million student archer athletes this school year. For more information on the 2011 World Tournement, see the NASP website.

Kalamazoo Launches 4-H Shooting Sports Program

Archery is part of the 4-H Shooting Sports program.

Young people in Kalamazoo County (Mich.) will have an opportunity to learn archery skills in the county’s new 4-H Shooting Sports and Archery program. Many of Michigan’s counties offer shooting sports education, but archery isn’t necessarily included in the mix. Hopefully, the new 4-H program in Kalamazoo County will broaden the exposure of young people to archery and instill a love for the sport.

NASP National Archery Competition for Students Coming Up

The 2011 National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) National Competition is scheduled for May 13 & 14, 2011. Registration is open through April 25th, and is available to students attending NASP-participating schools.
